The Cortisol Spike: Why You Feel "Wired" at 4 AM and How to Fix It
Have you ever felt completely exhausted at 2:00 AM, only to feel a strange, restless burst of energy at 4:00 AM? This is the "Second Wind," and for night shift workers, it is a biological trap. It makes you productive for the last two hours of work, but it keeps you awake until noon once you get home.
Personal Note from the Clinics: When I was working in medical clinics in Turkey (2019–2024), I used to think this 4 AM energy was a gift. The Hack: Dim your screens to the lowest possible setting after 4:00 AM. This prevents the light from signaling your brain to produce even more cortisol.
